When the Waves Meet the Flames

Kai never once thought to herself that she would never need to run from someone, no something. The one titled ‘Burning Lotus’ and one of the hottest shinobi around, she was very powerful but what she was running from was for a reason. As she moved through trees with her attire being a one piece of black, red leggings of course and red and black gloves with a grey flask jacket. Her hair was all out, like everywhere as she moved from tree to tree as this thing is tailing behind her, she is not running from fear but from preparation, she felt normal as there was no damage received to her the whole day as she moved sensing the heat from the area so she can find a decent place to take on what ever was moving at her with quick speed.



She could feel the weather getting hotter and hotter as she made one more jump off a random tree branch which caused an increase in the amount of air she gained as she saw light as she made her way to the light when she realized what it was. Hot rock lands, the heat was great for her as she slide across the dirt getting about a good 30 meters in distance as she waited for her pursuer to arrive. She stood up straight with the thought of one thing in mind, and with that thought in mind she got up and paced herself to whatever it was to come…

Where green met red, and leaf met sand. The border between the fire and wind country was a drastic changing landscape, one side of which was beneficial to Kai's pursuer, the other, a hindrance. Crashing through the trees some distance behind her, the clamour stopped as she burst through the foliage, and into the hot desert. The red rock hot lands themselves were sparsely populated by either wildlife nor vegetation, it's only distinguishing features large wind-torn structures, spiralling up into a finite point in the air, as if attempting to scar the very sky itself. It was upon one of these that now stood the Tiger-shark, his shadow cast down over his prey.

"You've realized you can't outrun me. That in itself proves you're not completely beyond logical reasoning. Do you really think you can outmatch me in combat though?"

The words slipped from his fanged teeth like a vile poison, echoing out over the barren plain to reach Kai's ears. He had taken up a position behind her, with the sun to his back. Should she then turn to look at him, the light would blind her temporarily. Torasame, once leader of the seven swordsman, was more battle hardened then the majority of Shinobi out there. His speed and tactical mind allowed him to take an advantageous position, despite the environments disadvantages to him, immediately upon noticing the geographical change. Now he stared down at his soon to be fresh kill, the smell of blood already tingling his sense, regardless of it's presence or not. At this range, some twenty or twenty meters up and with the base of the spire a mere ten meters away from the Kunoichi, he could feel her heartbeat. It was slow, forcefully calmed some might say. It nearly matched his own, fainter though, not as large. For Torasame was a mountain of a man, standing just over eight feet tall. He needed to be, to wield his faithful blade, Shiro, which now hung from his back. Leisurely, he reached up to grasp it's handle, his empty left hand having taken it's own residence upon the scabbard of his other, just as deadly short sword.

"Well then? Shall we see what you taste like?"

Power of heat to be of her advantage but she had only one way to find out, she could feel the heat in the air shift as his movements were fast as one second she was so very sure he was in front of her but for just a split moment he was gone. Then she felt the presence of eyes looking upon her as she could then remember and feel the same heat signature from the last. She could feel the man’s shadow overcastting of her own, she has fought man big opponents before so this was nothing special, so she blinked a moment thinking to herself as she had already looked this man down as she noticed only a few things in which might help her out for the moment though she might not need it. She made a few front flips and a summersault sliding a bit but stopping herself making herself look epic turning her whole body to face the opponent with her eyes just a bit closed as she came to a hault, she could see the sun fine due to the Katon training and solar power skills she has learned in the past. She then spoke for a brief moment to her opponent.

“Your quite the catch there…Care To Dance a bit on the sun before moving it to the water”


That statement was used because she saw the size of him, she had to make an assumption that due to his size he must be carrying a large amount of chakra, and she could see his features were that of water meaning he could possibly summon water some strange way how. But she was ready, not looking to kill him or anything but just but him down for a moment as she preformed a few hand seals in place and pulled out a big ball and afterwards dropping it to the ground a large amount of smoke covered the area in a 20 meter diameter meaning it was perfect for the moment. Then she activated another smoke screen but this time it was a technique that needed chakra in which this technique blocked all other sensory from seeing her unless he breaks the genjutsu. Her first technique has been used, to cover herself up completely. Then her second jutsu would be simple but for now only thing that was seen was three kunai knifes flying towards the blue man. She was going to test a few of his skills out before she begins the light show.

“Lets begin shall we…Guide me through the dance floor…besides…you’re my date for just one night…right?”

She was intelligent. The cardinal rules of Shinobi combat were indeed stealth and subterfuge. She hadn't finished her research however. By deploying the smoke cloud, she must have been inherently aware that the Hoshigaki had impressive tracking abilities, but the jutsu she employed only protected her from sight techniques. Torasame on the other hand, tracked his prey through feel and smell. As long as her heart beat within his range, he could feel it. As such, he made no immediate moves when the smoke appeared, but rather waited patiently, an impressive feat with three kunai racing towards oneself.

Ting!

Three clangs in near perfect unison and the kunai were deflected. How Torasame did it would be invisible to the naked eye, but to someone who was aware of his kenjutsu abilities, they may realize that his short sword, Ushio-waru had been drawn, swung in three precise slices, then sheathed again all within the blink of an eye.

Torasame grinned. It would be like hunting guppies. He didn't pause on the thought for long though.

Taking advantage of his opponent's lack of sight as well as his own, Torasame fell backwards, off the top of the pillar. As he did so, the sickening sound of Shiro being pulled from it's straps could be faintly heard upon the warm air. Back flipping to face the very same spire he had been resting on, now an obstacle between he and his opponent, Tora waited until he neared the bottom, roughly five meters up from the ground. Then, using his ungodly strength, he brought the blade through the spire, separating the top from it's base. His left hand then left the grip it held upon Ushio's scabbard, and with an even greater display of speed, Torasame slammed his palm into the half above his freshly made cut.

As the great shark's feet touched the rocky soil, and Shiro was sheathed, the pillar began to lean. Slowly at first, it began to topple towards Kai, who, if remained within he vaporous cover, would not only be in the direct path of the immense falling rock, but be blind to it coming. For now, Torasame waited for the sound of a squashed bug, and the smell of blood.

As the plan seemed to be set, she stood for the moment trying to picture her getting in close range with a large strong shark with two swords. For a moment it was nothing, and then CLINK the sounds of metal meeting each other went off meaning that something deflected the kunai knifes used to start It up, she gave a small thought of it being one of the swords, most likely by the small sword but then again anything was possible at this given time. So she figured he could still see her somehow, and she realized she didn’t really have a tactic for the smoke, it was just to test his senses, which she was sadly right figuring he looks like a male shark. She then caught his heat signature began to move as it was not in the same place as it was before, he was pulling something due to his arms moving and she can feel the body heat in his arms and shifting rock heat which began to move.


She got in a stance and burst running forward as she dispelled the genjutsu. She knew exactly when it was going to start falling and she jumped quickly feeling her chakra beginning to restore itself but it was sad because she knew she would need to use it again. As she went through the air she summoned a clone, but instead of going the same route that she made, this clone jumped to the side dodging the large pillar as the real Kai went on top of it then jumped off of that leaping forward as she begin to perform front flips about a good 15 meters in the air from the ground and from the shark man, her flipping and movements through the air were so fast as she slide across the ground, but while that happened the clone came around for an attack to the shark.


When the shark knocked over the pillar and it slammed into the ground a large amount of hot smoke/dirt went through the air which would seem like a cover for a normal person, the clone went in with a kunai for a strike to the neck, a left right type slash which for the real Kai was behind him a good 15 meters away watching as her chakra regenerates for the moment and for her to see his Taijutsu or Kenjutsu skills.


While he dealt with that clone which wouldn’t be long at all, she began performing jutsu and activated two no three, genjutsu which was once again was testing abilities as closed her eyes and performed the first one which would cause him if caught to be in a world filled with darkness, which he probably would dispel, but after that a genjutsu which cause his hearing to be replaced by white noice and the final would be a jutsu used to put people to sleep. As a Genjutsu user she specialize with this so it shouldn’t take as much chakra as she would usually have it too. So in her eyes he only expect one, as the other one hides the final one that really is suppose to do damage. She then took a taijutsu stance not knowing if it was the best option.

"Can I get a name...?

Torasame's eyes followed the kunoichi as she flipped up and overhead. For a moment, it would seem as though her clone, approaching from the flume of dust would go unnoticed, it's kunai reaching ever so close to the behemoth's throat. As it did, it dispersed. Just a regular clone, it had no true form, and was nothing but an illusion. As such, it had no heartbeat, and while Torasame saw it coming, he paid it no notice. Instead he turned to follow Kai's motions, facing her as she landed. He was only vaguely amused.

Then his vision went. Next, the trademark sound of her blood pumping through her veins was replaced by nothing but a constant low buzz. Genjutsu... Torasame smirked to himself, as he could still feel her heart pulsate, her muscles move, generating electro-magnetic fields as they did. If Torasame could see what occured next, it probably would have worried him.. The feathers were the ear-marks of the Temple of Nirvana technique. Naturally, he had no knowledge of them, blind as he was, nor did they affect him in his current state. Perhaps his opponent intended for the tiger shark to dispel the genjutsu affecting his sight, to then have him trapped in the sleep inducing spell. This would not be the case. A simple hand seal later, and the uttering of the word "kai", and the static filling his ears were gone, the darkness remaining. In Torasame's mind, it would have been unwise to expend chakra in order to regain his sight, he was fine with his other sense. His hearing was more necessary though, and it returned just in time for him to hear his to-be victim's words.

"Can I get a name?"

Torasame's grin returned as he crossed his hands behind his back, being sure to face the sound of her voice, blind as he was. He then began to speak, slowly, carefully, for as he did so, his hands formed three neat seals behind his back, his fingers and muscles moving as slowly and carefully as possible, so as not to let on to his prey.

"A name? Do you feel that the grim reaper would give mercy unto dying souls should they know his name?" Tiger. "If so, that's a humorous prospect at best. For even if it's true, it only means one thing:" Bird. "And that's that I... Torasame Hoshigaki, Tiger Shark of the haunted seas, am worse then the grim reaper. "Dog.

With both monologue and hand seals finished, Tora jerked downwards, his entire body moving into a one knee crouch. As he did so, his right hand moved up to Shiro's hilt, and giving it a powerful pull, slid it from it's sheath. He then let it go, the entire blade flying through the air towards his target, point first. Even this was to simply distract from the real threat though, the sword could be stopped, deflected, but if one took the time to do so, they'd most likely fail to notice that the Hoshigaki's free hand now law palm against the ground.

Five meter's out to either side of him, and for thirty meters forwards, the hard rock turned to mud, Kai having been well within that range. It didn't stop there though, for it clung, stuck and pulled anything upon it's surface downwards, attempting to make it as difficult as possible to move. Should the kunoichi pay too much attention to the sword, she'd be unable to move out of the way.

OOC: With one kai, I don't think you were able to dispell all three of my Genjutsu, and the last one was. . . . . put to sleep meaning you wouldn't be able to notice the feathers right?? I read the Kai guide but it doesn't say its allowed to use one kai for three different genjutsu. Can you please explain, because in my eyes you used Kai for one, and not the other and the last one hit you putting you to sleep. But maybe you think differently....please elabrate/explain

OOC: I only disband the hearing disabling genjutsu, and left the banned "Bringer of Darkness" technique in place (check the ban list). I did it this way, because in all technicalities, your Temple of Nirvana technique wouldn't work in the first place, based on it's description:

Note it says "sees". So without sight, the genjutsu is useless, and as you had already removed my sight with the banned "Bringer or Darkness" technique, my posting even stating that the temple of Nirvana had any effect, was a freebie for you. If read carefully, the Temple of Nirvana only puts targets to sleep after they see the feathers. And if one were to observe either the manga or the episode in which the technique was used, several characters were able to use the Kai release after seeing the feathers (as the technique doesn't even begin to affect people before the feathers are visible).

In actuality, I was rather lenient with your post, rather then simply taking the "That's banned!" and "That wouldn't work." routes. In summary, I used Kai to dispel one of the genjutsu, not three, using a C ranked Kai, to dispel a C rank genjutsu. I agree that I wouldn't be able to dispel three genjutsu, or for that matter, even two A rank genjutsu with one Kai release, so I picked the one I deemed to be the most immediately threatening to my character, and even left the supposed-to-be banned technique in place, without so much as a fuss.

Feel free to PM me next time though, I have no problem clarifying/justifying my posts, but I prefer to do it without cluttering the thread.

The plan was almost set but it seems the plan was up to a failure. The fire mistress Kai slid her left leg back in a ready position until she could see clearly that his facial expression wasn’t surprised. This gave her a state of mind when it came to her senses that his senses were much greater then she would expect. Then he spoke with a confidence in his tone which is when she remembered something about sharks. The heat through out each of his fingers began to move and form together which it clicked to her that he was creating hand seals as he spoke the name


‘Torasame Hoshigaki’


Which she then nodded to remember. It took a few minutes to dispel the genjutsu while speaking as she felt a bit of her chakra coming back giving a small sigh as her eye lids went down a bit as she could hear her own heart beat but before she could think of a plan he dropped down on one knee and with that his first action was a quick toss. He launched the blade quickly and with accuracy, jolting her body in a position to counter the blade when she could feel the body heat in one of his arms make surface with the hot ground which caused her to catch on to the plan quickly.



The use of chakra was at hand but very much not needed, She made about two jumps backwards because she wasn’t so close and the first jump when she got off the ground she could see the rock turning into mud moving closer to her not looking so nice to step in it, once she got to the ground a bit more distance from the moving mud for the next jump she noticed the blade moving closer so her next jump wouldn’t be as high as she landed completely on the blade as it kept going as she for a second she could still see the mud forming as she moved in high speed through the air on top of this man’s blade.



She turned around to see a pillar she leaped off the blade quickly performing a flip landing on a pillar as she looked down to see about five meters in front of the pillar the mud stopped forming and she noticed the sword inside the hard pillar. She swung back her hair as she counted two minutes; she could feel more chakra coming back to her for that moment. She was now about 40 meters away from this beast as she stood in a waiting position. She spoke again in a bit of a flirtatious tone but she stood ready, anyone could tell.


“I seem to have you in range…no need to get to close to a girl…it’s only our first date”

Torasame stared forward into the darkness as his sword flew forward. It was then that his vision returned, the practically glowing red rocks around them reflecting sunlight off themselves, onto the speeding blade, and off again. It would have been an impressive sight, had he been able to see it properly, several bright white feathers blocked his view though.

"You're genjutsu is becoming annoying..."

Another kai seal, and it too was gone.

She had noticed the mud creation, a shame, but regardlessly, she would need to become airborne to avoid both it and the sword, and Torasame was ready for it. It was impecabbly difficult to change one's location in mid-air, so as she performed her first leap backwards, Torasame formed more hand seals, still in his kneeling position. A single mud clone formed from the viscous earth some distance behind her. She then leaped again, not nearly as high, she aimed for the sword as a stepping stone. And that would be her mistake.

Forming one more single hand seal, a pillar of mud jutted up from the earth, catching the eight foot blade prematurely. With Kai's timing, she'd now miss her chance to use the blade to carry her out of the mud field, and would return to it's earthen grasp. The clone now only a few meters behind her, busied itself with it's own hand seals meanwhile, and soon disappeared beneath the mud's surface. With proper timing, he'd be below the spot that Kai would land in, just as she touched down. Reaching up, he'd then grasp her by the heel, and pull her beneath the surface. Torasame prepared himself too, for if the clone could get her below the surface, he'd perform another hand seal, and return the mud to it's former, hard rock state. Only if the clone succeeded however, if not, he'd chain more hand seals into the prepped seal and release a slicing pressure stream from his mouth, in order to catch her if she somehow managed to leap again, in an attempt to escape the sludge field.

Admiring his handiwork, Torasame sat back and watched the events unfold.

Now usually she was quite cocky about the tactic about not using chakra to make use of what was going on, but in this case her emotions were only of the past and very sketchy but still somewhat visible. Her plans looked like they were going to work just fine, but she felt like it wouldn’t go like that. She blinked instantly when her heat sensory powers kicked in which caused her to feel something. Once again the blue terror that wield two massive swords fingers went moving again, she began to perform hand seals with a tricky thought in mind just in case the sword didn’t come fast enough. She heard something slightly, she couldn’t understand the sound so she looked to the right and could see the clone right where she could stand.



She turned her head back forward and already finished while in mid-air absorbed heat from five meters from around her and due to the hot heat in the area it would make it more effective, she placed her palm downward and facing downward. Launched a massive amount of heat towards the mud, causing the force to blow her back upward. As she soared through the air she began flipping until she came on to a stop, but she still wasn’t completely out of the field yet so she had both of her feet facing the real Torasame and tucked herself in a ball then released herself quick in a powerful double leg thrust bursting out two large fire images of feet as a attack which pushed her backwards and more in the air as well. She seconds later came to a stop on top of a pillar about a good 30 meters up, about a good 6 meters from the end of the mud field. She dusted herself off gently while looking at the blue man, she had to use chakra which pissed her off greatly but she had to do something.

So she did manage to change direction? Torasame was amused, but seeing it in action, he immediately strung together the next set of hand seals, after what had been intentionally created to harden the mud, and unleashed a torrential amount of water from his throat, projecting it as a slicing stream at his target.

You managed to change direction once... But can you do it again?

The speed of the water was exceptional, and with Torasame having been ready for the outcome of his last trap, it would arrive long before Kai launched her flaming kick attack. If it struck, the force of it would easily mar her flesh, tearing her skin to ribbons. There wouldn't be any long lasting wounds, but it would hurt, alot. If that weren't bad enough, the mud clone, deep beneath it's earthen lake, received information from it's creator, and formed it's own hand seals, roughly mimicking the same speed at which the original Torasame labeled his. Moments later, as water became to spew forth from the real shark, a wall of mud rose up behind the airborne kunoichi, hardening into a solid block. Now, not only were her escape routes restricted to a greater extend, the water stream would drive her into it, and keep her pinned.

Or at least momentarily, until it pushed her straight through it, presumably breaking a few bones on the way through. After the mud clone had done it's piece, it returned to the surface, grasping Shiro, which had embedded itself into the mud pillar. With Torasame continuing the stream, and planning on following Kai with it in whichever direction she tried to go, it was only wise to have another back up plan. Already with the next plan in place, it formed a one handed seal, and tightened it's grip on the weapon.

Torasame was a being of sheer onslaughtful force. Once he had his prey on the run, it stayed there. Soon, the sharks jaws would taste blood.

Lotus was very amused at her own abilities although now was not the time for admiring ones own skill. As she was in the air and preparing to make that tactic in getting out, and that is when she felt the heat of the air shifting and a straight line missing heat, the only thing that doesn’t really have heat is mud, water and probably wind in her opinion, she didn’t really know what element it was but only thing that she did know is, something was coming hard.



She preformed a few hand seals quickly making it just in time for a special technique. Simple, she activated one which caused her to moving and bending her legs up and down. With the fire extension technique still active it caused her to push herself higher but before that she activated her genjutsu at perfect timing causing Torasame to think if hit he hit her with it, and with the genjutsu Kai speciality was genjutsu. She then was about 3 meters higher then last location of the air, the Genjutsu makes the opponent see the genjutsu and not them which is perfect. She then use her arms and propel her self to the right trying to once again move from the mud land.

With Torasame's sensory abilities, he felt every muscles flex, every twist and subtle motion. The Genjutsu representation of Kai had none. As she moved and twisted to evade the stream of water, Tora simple shifted it's direction, readjusting it's aim to catch her once again, square in the chest. His clone didn't sit idle either, using a body flicker, it quickly reappeared, mid air, in Kai's immediate direction of travel. It held Shiro up before it in it's right hand, defensively, so as to block a counter attack, while reaching out with it's left, aiming to grasp onto Kai's exposed right hand. Just another means to get her to stop moving.

She couldn't dance forever.

OOC: Short, but I didn't really need to do much more.

Releasing her chakra almost instantly once she felt the clone in the air she dropped instantly so as she dive down it was to dodge the water and to move downward instead of moving towards the clone. The timing was so that the stream could hit the clone and she would move under it, then she propelled herself once more to move herself from going downward to going straight as she went straight to the side of the mud field as shebegan to flip until she began to slide across the hard ground as the mud field was about 10 meters from her as she came to a stop knowing the water was going to keep going as she waited.

Torasame had officially had enough. His clone held Shiro up defensively, pressed it's feet against the blade, and as the water slicing stream connected with the massive steel surface, leaped off, dragging the sword back with him. Landing a dozen or so feet away from Kai, it glared at her, a certain haunting in it's eyes. Torasame subsequently stopped the onslaught of water, letting the large amount he had spewed out fall to the ground atop the mud field, sullying the surface even more.

"That's it! Dodge this!"

Both he and the mud clones formed hand seals simultaneously, three each. In response, the mud began to form into more clones. Alot more. Sixty four mud clones rose from the mud, but they weren't the only ones, amongst them also rose sixty four mist clones. The mud clones were tough, and could take several hits. On the other hand, the mist clones were intangible, not being able to deal out any damage, but we're essentially indestructible. Better yet, It got better though, as the water had cooled off the mud, each clone would be undetectable by Kai's heat sensing ability, not that Torasame knew this however. As the mass of clones blocked him from direct line of sight from Kai, he formed more hand seals, and held his position. The technique created 25 water bulletsin a different, location within the group of clones, dispersed randomly, and just as cold as the beings around them, to mask their presence.

Each clone then received their first thought, and simultaneously, the entire group body flickered, scattered in several directions. Two mist clones and a mud clone appeared behind Kai, one throwing a kick low, another going for a strong lariat to the face. The last side stepped, letting the other clones hopefully grab her attention, as it came across with a powerful low punch, aimed for her kidneys. The majority of the other clones took up positions dispersed about the battlefield, some atop or attached to the sides of the large pillars, others on the ground, all keeping relative distance to each other. This was true for all with the exception of six more mud clones, all specifically placed to the east, north and west of Kai, in groups of two, the real Torasame still to the south. As the clones body flickered and commenced their attack, so did Torasame launch his bullets of water. Each at a high speed, they spread like buck shot. Three of the specifically placed mud clones then immediately slammed their hands into the ground at this point, creating three walls of mud, rising up to box Kai in, and become vulnerable to the attack. The remaining three on each side, leaped up, and stood atop these walls, each had their own copy of Ushio-Waru, and it was this that they drew now, waiting for the water to reach it's target, and for the already present clones attacking Kai to finish it up. When that was over, they'd fall upon their victim like hawks, each lashing out with their quick strike and sheath style techniques. It wasn't over though. After unleashing his watery missiles, Torasame formed another two hand seals. The goal here, was to use the water from the missiles, after they hit (whether that be Kai or the newly created walls around her) to create two water clones. One would subsequently use a oil emitting technique, and coat the girl in it, before the next would unleash the advanced water prison technique, using the water from the first clone as a source. If successful, it could entirely negate his opponent's fiery techniques, as should she then perform any fire ability to remove herself from the situation, she'd find herself on fire rather then make any ground. Death would come soon today.
